School Savings Program

Students participating in the school savings program will learn: what a savings account is, the advantages of saving, how a savings account earns interest, and how to compute interest. Each student will learn how to read an account statement and gain an understanding of other banking services. In addition to the curriculum provided to all students, they will be able to make weekly deposits at school. To encourage savings growth we also encourage only two withdrawals during the year.

So that every student can participate in the school savings program, Wadena State Bank will open an account for each student who has a valid social security number and we will make the initial deposit of $2.50. The account will earn interest while the student learns the benefits of savings. We look forward to the participation of many students in this exciting and valuable program.
